About Us

About US
Since 1979, the Chilliwack Academy of Music has provided high quality music programs designed for all ages and diverse abilities.

The Chilliwack Academy of Music offers private instruction for many instruments, in addition to group classes and ensembles led by experienced faculty. Operating as a not-for-profit charitable society, the Academy directly serves a variety of students, and is a proud member of the B.C. Association of Community Music Schools.

Our History

Until 2010, the Academy operated out of rented premises, including a historic house on First Avenue. With the opening of the Chilliwack Cultural Centre, the Chilliwack Academy of Music relocated to the new building. The Academy's involvement as a Core Partner in the Cultural Centre allows it to meet the growing demands of the community for high quality music instruction and programming. The academy has access to several lesson studios, practice rooms, and performance halls within the Chilliwack Cultural Centre.

Best Value for Price

We are nonprofit, which means significantly more of your tuition goes directly to your teacher, less to pay administration, and none to profit. The result is the best value at a competitive price.

Financial Awards

As part of our initiative to provide accessible music education, we administer financial scholarships each year for both our own CAM students to help with the cost of lessons, as well as students preparing to study music at a post secondary institution.

Inclusion & Accessibility

We have specialized instructors for many styles of music, from classical to modern pop. We welcome students of all ages and levels of prior training; our instructors can accommodate diverse needs and abilities.

Performance Opportunities

With a variety of group and solo performing opportunities, the Academy provides performance events for all students, no matter their experience level or individual goals.

Groups

Taking group classes is beneficial wherever you are in your musical journey. Whether you are seeking an introduction to music, an additional playing opportunity, or want to meet new friends, be sure to check out our group programs.

Quality Instructors

All of our instructors have extensive qualification in their respective areas of expertise. Students can ensure they will receive positive, high quality instruction built on our vision of respect, support, and growth.

Board Members

The Chilliwack Academy of Music is supported by a passionate and skilled board. Its members work together to further the community’s artistic growth, using their unique voices and talents to share insights and engage themselves in the life of the academy.
