Registration Policies

General Information

Registration can be done:

  • Online at chilliwackmusic.com
  • By phone at 604-792-0790
  • In person at the Chilliwack Academy of Music Office

Payment Schedules

Lump Sum (1 payment), Semesterly (2 payments), Monthly (first of each month)

How to Register

  1. Sign up for private lesson or group class online/at the office
  2. Enter your payment information
  3. We will confirm your time and date of lesson with your teacher, and your prefered payment method and pay schedule
  4. Your first scheduled payment is due to confirm your space
  5. When firsy payment is recieved, your lesson time is reserved, and lessons can begin

Private Lesson Billing

A $20 fee will be charged for NSF cheques, and returned payments.

Payment by 3rd party agencies (distance education, homeschooling agncies, Aboriginal bands, etc.) must be arranged in advance. If payments cannot be made by agency in advance, the student is responsible for arranging payment until the agency makes payment. Any surplus will be refunded to the student.

Lessons may be suspended and payment plan privileges may be revoked at any time in the event of payment default at the Academy's discretion.

Early Registration

Early for summer and the upcoming academic year starts on May 1. Registration is on a first-come first served basis. Private lesson times are arranged between the student and the instructor. In the unlikely case that a mutually acceptable private lesson time cannot be accomodated, another instructor will be found

Attendance

Regular and punctual attendance is required of all students.

Student Absences

Please inform your instructor directly if you are unable to attend your lesson. You can obtain your teacher’s contact information by calling our number 604-792-0790.

Lesson Cancellation

When a student cancels a lesson with or without notice, the instructor is not obliged to supply a make-up lesson. An account adjustment will be made at the end of the term for missed lessons only upon written notification from the instructor.

Instructor Absences

When an instructor is absent, every effort will be made to provide a make-up lesson that is suitable to both the student and the instructor. An account adjustment will be made at the end of the term if the instructor is unable to teach a make-up lesson and informs the office in writing.

Statutory Holidays and Closures

It is the instructor’s responsibility to confirm lessons with their own students if the regular lesson time occurs on a statutory holiday. For the safety of students, instructors and staff, the Academy will be closed on bad weather days in accordance with School District #33 closures. Private lessons missed due to an Academy closure will be made up as per “Instructor Absences” above. There will be no refunds or make-ups for group classes that are cancelled due to bad weather closure.

Withdrawals & Refunds

The Academy requires four weeks' notice of a student's intention to withdraw from private lessons.

  • The administration fee is non-refundable
  • The date of the withdrawal notice will be the date the office receives written notification from the teacher
  • During the four-week notice period, the student may continue to attend lessons.
  • There are no refunds if a student withdraws from a group class once registration has taken place, as his/her place cannot be filled.
